WICKED#7 was a successful road trip for Pure Amusement Wrestling in Baton Rouge, chock full of twists and turns, surprises, and even what some would call upsets. Here's a rundown of the fall out that resulted from this show.
1) The question was finally answered what was going on with Alex Cross. His odd behavior was obviously a cry for help, as it has been confirmed that he is suffering from a major alcohol problem. There had been plenty of rumors to corroborate this theory in recent weeks, but the events that took place in the Main Event of WICKED#7 solidified that was indeed the case. It's a wonder that Cross didn't hurt himself or Raike during that match, and from a business stand point, ruined the credibility of what should have been a show stealer. Due to his actions, Alex Cross has been suspended from all future PAW events until further notice, probably resulting in a full psyche evaluation and some much needed rehab.
2) Speaking of the main event, Johnny Raike did a great job of maintaining his composure during the match despite the obvious anger and disappointment his opponent elicited from him. The match ended mercifully when Johnny Raike hooked both legs, and forced Cross to remain on the mat. There's sure to be word from the Thigh High Thriller about these events, but for now, he has to look to the future, which will include a match at WICKED#8 against the #1 Contender to the PAW Championship, CJ O'Donnell.
3) The PAW Championship title scene has become a complicated situation, with many of the roster ready to come forward to make claim to the throne. 'The Box Office' saw three of these men confront the current champion, Press, to inform him of their plans to take the belt. In the scramble for the belt, it's a pretty sure bet that CJ O'Donnell, Stevie Harris, and Johnny Raike will be seeing alot of each other in the future weeks to come.
4) The PAW Championship scene wasn't the only controversial point to take place on 'The Box Office', as The Fox, Cross Recoba, appears to be on a personal mission to dethrone the man that put him out of action during the Semi-Finals of the Tournament way back at WICKED#5. He anounced near the end of the segment that he was posting a $50,000 bounty to the first man that could unseat Press from the championship, which led to a scuffle between the champion and the current #1 Contender. Luckily security got there before it got out of hand, as PAW Management is sure to want to keep this match strictly in the ring for the pay out it's sure to bring.
5) Everyone knows that the champion is going to have a target on his back, but what about the #1 Contender? Calvin Harris went right after CJ O'Donnell in what was probably the highlight match of the night, as both men put on a strong performance. In the end, however, Harris came out the victor thanks to a sick vertabreaker that left O'Donnell unable to kick out. After his celebration, the smug Martyr of Wrestling signed #1 in the air towards O'Donnell, signifying that he didn't think that 'The Distinguished' deserved his title shot. Harris' plans are unclear, but one has to think that this victory propels him up the PAW rankings.
6) The end of the CJ O'Donnell & Calvin Harris match also saw an appearance from Trixie, who received much fanfare after returning O'Donnell's kiss from The St. Patrick's Day Super Show, and then delivering a stiff low kick which brought O'Donnell down. The fans seem to be clearly on the side of the Blonde Bombshell, as that kick reminds CJ O'Donnell that, as far as she's concerned, they have unfinished business. It will be interesting to see how this plays out, as this no longer appears to be about simple flirtation, but about professional standing on the roster.
7) Luke Knux rode into Baton Rouge with a game plan, and rode out with a solid victory in his triple threat match against Lola and Trixie. This match was as exciting as they come, with several moments when it looked like the two ladies were firmly in control. The Rock God, however, wrested the match away from them, ending the thing with a Suicide Note to Trixie. That's three in a row for the Knux Man, and the announcers touched on it for a moment, that if his star continues to rise, then he will have to be considered from future championship material. Only the future knows, as the competition continues to get stiffer and stiffer.
8) WICKED#7 saw newcomer's galore, with 'Hardcore' Jack Nomad and 'The Pixie' Alexandra Kelly strolling through the park, and putting the PAW Universe on notice. Then there was Johnathan & Alice's conversation in the stands, leaving right before the Main Event to do.....um....things. Also, we saw Johnny F'N Sykes take on Stiff in what is probably the quickest victory to ever take place in PAW to date. With all of these new wrestlers on the horizon, and a report that there may be more to come, how will PAW contain the action just to one show.
9) One has to wonder what the conversation was like between Stevie Harris and Lola, considering his pre-match words seemed to distract his chief lieutenant more than motivate her. Though Lola wasn't pinned, the loss probably won't sit well with Stevie Harris, all things considered, who's probably even more pissed about being unceremoniously unplugged by CJ O'Donnell during his comments on 'The Box Office'. It will be interesting to see how his mood affects his actions going into WICKED#8, where he will get his chance at the PAW Championship one more time when he faces Press in what is called 'Part 2' of the ongoing saga.
10) The absence of GZW from WICKED#7 was a bit of a surprise, but was refreshing. WICKED#8, however, will be more than interesting as the rumors that William Saint will be joining our ranks are apparently true. He will be signing his contract during an interview on 'The Box Office', which should be enlightening, and could explain a few things about what happened at the St. Patrick's Day Super Show. It will be interesting to see if the segment can reach completion without a host of interruptions like it did this week. We'll have to find out on WICKED#8.
