The pale rays of morning light found Munin in her office at Pure Amusement. A pen clenched between her teeth as she tapped away at the keyboard, pouring over her typical morning paperwork.
She welcomed the tedious task as it took her mind off less pleasant matters. Like Alex and his current spiral into depression.
He tried to hide it from her, but it was impossible to hide something like that from someone that is living with you. Especially when it leads you down the dark corridors of addiction. She wish she knew how to help him, how to reach out to him, but so far it alluded her. And as much as she loved him the barrier that his past actions had created was still very much there.
Lost in thought she was startled by a polite knock at the door.
“Come in.”
Dressed casually in black slacks, baby blue collar shirt, and a black blazer, the near seven footer named William Saint stepped into the room. Although several days removed from his altercation with John Champa, the side of his face was still slightly swollen and bruised from the brass knuckle shot given to him by the Big Shot.
"I hope I'm not interrupting anything of importance, Lady Munin?"
Pausing for a moment Munin allowed her eyes to wonder over the giant's face. She seemed to formulate whatever impression he made quickly, and closed her lap top with a polite smile.
"Not at all sir, please come in, and have a seat..."
Abiding by the "request", Saint hulks himself over to the front of her desk and takes a seat.
"Nice accommodations you have here."
"What can I say sir, I strive for the best."
She leaned back in her chair and waited patiently for Mr. Saint to compose himself.
"I want to extend my apologies concerning the behavior of Mister Champa and myself during the Super Show, Lady Munin."
A slow smile twisted at the corner of her mouth, and set her eyes to sparkle with an unnamed emotion.
"Oh no apologies needed Mr. Saint, you are in fact welcome at Pure Amusement anytime. As for our other associate...well I would be lying if I said it wasn't expected. You on the other hand were a surprise. A pleasant surprise mind you, but still a surprise."
"It was never my intent to 'crash' the Pure Amusement Wrestling broadcast like Mister Champa. I just happened to receive word that he might have been in attendance and thought it wise if I interjected."
"Whatever the reason for your appearance I am happy you were there, but then that leads us to the question of this visit. How may I help you Mr. Saint?"
"I just wanted to insure that I was not over stepping my boundaries when it came to that night. There is no denying that we have had our professional issues within this sport while we were in GroundZero Wrestling 2K1, but not once did I ever believe that you could not fend for yourself; much as I believe those athletes on the P.A.W. roster cannot."
"I appreciate the sentiment sir, and please be assured that it is returned. If I might be so bold I wonder what your plans are for the future? You have once again worked against the machine, and while I doubt they can afford to lose you... I doubt they will make life easy for you."
Saint rubs his goatee, pondering the question.
"I'm honestly not sure. Of course I have gotten offers from several organizations including other Ground Zero Global companies such as Hong Kong Wrestling Federation and United Japan Wrestling. Quite lucrative offers but you should know I have never been enticed by monetary compensation. It still is quite a shock that I have ended my tenure with GZW2K1."
Munin raised her eyebrows in surprise at the news, and sat forward in her chair.
"So you have broken ties then?"
"I have indeed severed ties, Lady Munin. My contract concluded at Aftermath2K15 and my no compete clause ends at the end of this month."
Munin nodded her head in acknowledgement, as she quickly opened her laptop. After clicking a few keys and scanning the screen in silence for a moment, Munin faced Mongrel once more with her smile firmly in place.
"If that is the case then please allow me to draw up an offer of my own. I could give you a copy of our standard to scan at your leisure, and keep in mind I am very open to negotiations."
With a raised right eyebrow, Saint glanced at his former professional rival.
"It would be remiss of me if I did not entertain such an offer, Lady Munin."
The grin that crossed her face was nothing short of pure satisfaction, and her apparent pleasure genuine.
"That sir is excellent news."
"I don't wish to hold up anymore of you precious time. I can only imagine the tasks that you must face as a wrestling company head."
He stands to his feet.
"You'll have my decision in a few days, ma'am."
"It is a very different role, but oddly enough a very satisfying one."
She stood and reached out a hand to shake.
"Thank you for your time sir, I look forward to hearing from you."
His enormous hand engulfed the tiny one of Munin as he returned her handshake.
