A lot had gone down of late in Pure Amusement Wrestling. Not just with the matches, but construction too. Mystery builders in the Black Cage, and then the building permits to expand the kissing booth came through. The internet, as it is wont to do, went crazy with rumors about what it all means, from PAW is doing great and reinvesting in itself, to PAW is doomed and this is the last act of the desperate and crazy. Quite a few believe that PAW is throwing money around as a show of force to GZW, a further way of stalling if not averting the threatened war all together. One question comes up a lot—Why isn't anyone in PAW doing something?
It's a question Johnny feels is fair, he's had some similar questions in mind himself. Johnny adds to a card on his desk, jotting down 'GZW situation' under his other topics, such as: Titan of the Midway title, ladders, legit dislike of Calvin Harris, number one contendership thing, notes on O'Donnell, you're out of strawberry protein. This last one Johnny rolls his eyes and erases, settling back in his chair as he contemplates his notes.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Platinum sheen and “Pure Morning” fade to the pretty face of Johnny Rake, dressed in a long-sleeved green sweater and dark jeans, link by the Titan of the Midway belt. Johnny is smiling as usual, wearing a blue lip ring and three eye brow piercings; two left, one right. Strung over his shoulders is his whiffleball bat, almost giving Johnny the appearance of a hipster scarecrow. Johnny: “Well well, didn't we have a productive show eight? I know I did, what with not impressing CJ O'Donnell as I beat him. Wanna take those words back yet, Caleb? Of course you do. But you're not the topic to open on, that comes way further down the list. First things first, and though I'm a little late, happy Four-Twenty everyone! Figure if there's any group who isn't going to judge me for being late it's my fellow revelers of yesterday's glorious feast. We got sixteen people, a pound of some amazing shit, I'm sure someone told me the name, but I kinda somehow got high and forgot it. Shit happens. Anyway, the goal of the day was to hotbox until we couldn't see across Mike's mancave, not a sex thing, and I'd say we succeeded admirably. Though people kept opening the door and letting the smoke out, so we had to keep refilling it. Woe is life.”The Most Liberated Man in Professional Wrestling brings a hand theatrically to his brow, glancing away from the camera for a moment before returning with a smile. Johnny: “All in all, pretty good day. Of course, there is but very little rest for the wicked, and not much more rest until Wicked number nine. And so I will turn my attentions away from the surprisingly well acknowledged yearly celebration of pot smoking, and talk about my job for a little while. Seems only fair. And it's hard to know where to start today. Shit has happened. I suppose my most immediate concern is my first title defense against Calvin Harris. The self proclaimed number one contender who is once again insulted to be fighting for my Titan of the Midway belt. And I've got a lot to say there, but I think it'll more naturally fit a little later on. The number one contendership, also a topic I've got the urge to weigh in on, but first, I think I need to address a question.”Johnny rolls his fingers and pulls from his sleeve a joint. The Thigh-High Thriller lights up and uses the jay as an impromptu pointer. Johnny: “Now, this question wasn't asked specifically to me. Maybe not even precisely of me. But it's me who's answering, and I think we can all just live with that. I'm talking about the GZW invasion. If, indeed, invasion is what it can be called. Twice they've gotten in and done some damage, sure. But the first time it was to a man who didn't work for our company, and then the second time it was to the same man moments after he had signed on to our company. I still haven't properly met the dude. And a lot was made that night about how no one came out to help. I could tell you all my excuse, but I didn't help either so in the end the why not isn't hugely relevant. But as for why no one else did, well, I can offer theory.”Johnny takes another hit, french rolling then blowing a smoke ring, letting the rest of the smoke out with a toothy grin. Johnny: “This company has somehow, for a regional promotion based outta Purity, Louisiana, managed to put together some of the most talented wrestlers I've ever walked among. Some of the fiercest competition of my career has already happened in this promotion and we haven't even made it to show ten yet. We are all hot to be the best of this group, to stand up head and shoulders above the cream of the crop and know that you are the best, to know that the world, or at least Purity, Louisiana, knows you're the best. We each want to be the one, the guy, the name that flashes through your head when you think of PAW. How in all of Gaga's green earth do you think we're going to be able to suddenly all pivot and fight off an invading force?”
The Sissyboy Savior holds up a finger and gives the camera bemused shake of the head. Johnny: “Now, if it's true that you should measure yourself not with your friend but with your enemies, then I have some gripes with GZW in general, and with John Champa, specifically. John, I don't get it. The first time you dropped Saint, alright. He's a big dude, didn't agree with you, you were all full of piss and vinegar, though I will note you didn't do too much to try and get one of us down there. So you sucker punched a giant, promised big things, and told me you were something I hadn't seen before. Which was a bald faced lie, because arrogant asshole, though fun and often entertaining, is pretty damn common. As is big bad invader who has to destroy something to feel like a big man. Munin jumped ship with her belts because she seemed to think GZW was no longer able to provide competition, and you respond by not attempting to compete with any of us.”Johnny has a look of realization, seemingly genuine. Johnny: “Huh. You know what, I haven't seen that before. Guess I was wrong John, you did show me something new. But if you want to actually prove something to the PAW fans, if you want to show me that you're more than a buzzing fly, annoying but not a threat, then show me. But if all you want to do is run around, jumping people mid match and being assholes, then don't expect the time of day from me.”The American Wet Dream fixes a non-existent out of place hair, then continues. Johnny: “Moving on. Let's talk Calvin Harris. The Martyr of Professional Wrestling. What a fucking joke that is. You think it was martyrdom when Alex Cross and I beat you halfway into last week? Cause I think it was the natural end result of a kid who wants to come in, run his mouth, and not have to pay for it. Seems to me that all the world could see we teamed up 'cause you were the one up there being a disrespectful little shit, talking like we hadn't been in the same company for a month and acting like you were the only one who'd ever had his hand raised. But no, you saw that as a conspiracy. You found another when Tyler Keenan jumped you while teaming; I think you're just not a people person. Do real well at pissing them off.”A chagrined smile from the Brutiful One. Johnny: “So, I already don't like you 'cause you're a whiner. I continue to not like you for being the kind of man who throws around hate speech and gets baffled when people give a shit. Of course, that assumes you were listening to me but if not, well, then this is gonna be all the more surprising for you. I love hitting boys who think cock sucker is an insult. They're always a little surprised by just how much hurt and anger I can get into one swing. But then, they shouldn't be, I am an expert on cramming it in.”
A coquettish wink from Johnny Raike. Johnny: “So, while I already disliked you personally, I was willing to give you a chance professionally. Even when you walked out to the ring last show, talking like a man with one win might who actually believes his claim to the number one contendership. Kinda want to know how your argument holds up this week, seeing as I've also pinned the number one contender. No doubt you still say it's you; you did get there first. But I guess that's just a side thing to settle when you face me in a ladder match for my Titan of Midway championship. Though I will say, with a pin over you- or, well, ladder climb, and a pin over CJ, I might just have to petition to skip the line a bit, get some new blood up in the title scene. We'll cross that bridge when we come to it. But let us return to reasons I don't like Calvin Harris.”
A quick puff before continuing. Johnny: “Shortly after finding out that Munin had seen fit to reward his one win, significant though it may be, with a shot, the first shot, at my Titanship, Calvin Harris had the nerve, the sheer gall and gumption to complain about being given a shot at, airquotes everybody, second place.”Johnny stares hard into the camera, the effects of the cannabis not stopping the loathing from rolling out. The Beautiful Nightmare taps his belt. Johnny: “That's why you'll never get this, not from me. You see this belt as an insult, a consolation prize to make you stop whining. You think this belt means I am capped, the number two, never as good. Well, step one a belt means what you make it mean, honey. If you think what you're fighting for has limits, has a built in ceiling, then you won't and can't fight as hard as I will. Because step two is you understanding that this isn't my rank so far as the heavyweight standing go. This is to show I'm a Titan, a hard fighting, hard partying, gentle loving more often then not, hellcat of a man. This belt puts me at the top of an entire division. What I'll have to do to keep this belt, not just from you but from anyone, is be more clever, is think further ahead, is survive one move longer, flourish in the hell that is hardcore matches. And it can't just be something you're doing. That's what I've come to realize. It has to be something you feel, something you are. Hell, I spent the last couple of years thinking like you. That king of death matches, of hardcore, that all my talent with weaponry and problem solving was for nothing, that it made me second best. But I was wrong. It's the thought all great warriors have at some point; good is good. If you're at your best with a broomstick in your hand, then that's what you should do. If you can be great in both, then congrats because you might be Johnny Raike. Or a hell of a lot of other people, but point made. This isn't a consolation. This isn't something for the people to ooh and aah at while they're waiting for the main event. This is the main event. We are closing this show down, and why wouldn't we? Pure Amusement wanted a titan, and on April twenty-eighth you are going to see that this titan rules his patch of the world with skill, tenacity, and the stinging power of a whiffleball bat. Don't worry about the razor boots this time honey, it's hell on my laces.”A wide eyed smile from Johnny Raike. Johnny: “Ladder match for the Titan of the Midway championship. Not quite so many fun things as the midway itself, but certainly no lack of offensive options for the clever. Plus, of course, the things we can carry. You remember the bat from the last time we tangled for this belt. I hit you really hard in the back of the head. So, actually, you might not remember. It was painful, I should know. I'm the one who hit you. Don't worry, you'll get a chance to recall. Probably have a couple of other little surprises, I am so fond of surprises. My dates aren't always, but that's the chance you take in New York. The first Pure Amusement ladder match, and my third Pure Amusement main event. I intend to take full advantage of it. I'm building up the prestige of the Titan of the Midway. I'm cementing my claim to the next Pure Amusement title shot. And I'll climb to the top of every High Peak to keep my belt, let alone one little ladder. So come fight for second place, Calvin. It's where I intend to leave you.” On that challenge from the Sissyboy Savior, and an accompanying little finger wave, the screen returns once more to platinum and “Pure Morning” before fading to the Raike in the Cash logo.

“CLEARING THE AIR” Apartment Complex - Camera Off scene one
“Are you stupid or something?”
That’s the first thought that rolled through Calvin’s mind as he came up a flight of steps. The reason being is he was on the verge of doing what he thought was the right thing. At the same time was just asking for a bunch of trouble at the same time. He was on the verge of showing up at his ex’s unannounced. It was time some things be said. It was time for him to get some things off his chest. Surely there were a few things she wanted to get off her chest as well. All this time he had been out of rehab and not a word had been said aside from when she wanted to make snarky remarks on social media.
Today that was coming to an end. One way or the other. He stood in front of the door of the apartment. Taking a deep breath he brought his hands up. Tapping his knuckles against the hard surface of the door. Taking a step back waiting for the shit show that was sure to come. A couple minutes had went by and the door finally swung open, revealing a petite blonde standing behind it. The look on her face wasn't the greeting look, and she simply rolled her eyes before finally responding, with a sarcastic tone.
t h e p r i d e o f j e r z C A R L I ★彡 D A V I S “Oh lucky me. To what do I owe this pleasure?”
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “Nice to see you too.”
The utter sarcasm that had filled his ears due to her was like nails on a chalkboard. It annoyed him that much. They haven't had a normal conversation in months. Then she responds this way. Holding his tongue to avoid things getting out of control so soon.
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “I am only in this god forsaken state for a layover. In a few hours I have to getting the hell out of here. So let's cut the crap. I think you know what I am doing here. Can I come in or would you prefer to hear your neighbors to hear everything?”
t h e p r i d e o f j e r z C A R L I ★彡 D A V I S “Fine.”
She took a step back, allowing Calvin to walk in, before closing the door behind him. Turning to face him, she folded her arms across her chest.
t h e p r i d e o f j e r z C A R L I ★彡 D A V I S “Alright, spill it. What is it that you need to apparently get off your chest.”
Standing there in the small part of the hallway in her apartment. He wasn't going to make himself too comfortable in her home. For one, he didn't want to hear her mouth about it. And for two, he just wanted to get this out of the way so he could move on.
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “Shouldn't it be a matter of what you want to get off your chest?”
Pausing for the moment sliding his hands inside the pockets of his loosely fitted jeans.
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “I could stand here and tell you how I seriously resent you for bailing on me in the time of need. It would fall on deaf ears. I could stand here and tell you how much it bothered me that you let your friend get a way with the shit she got away with when she attacked a situation that has fucked me up for life. You'd say it isn't your problem and that you don't control what she does. I could tell you how much it hurt for you to not check in and not even some see me when I was away. But it wouldn't make a difference to you.”
Bringing all of that up had Calvin gritting his teeth some. This was stuff that legitimately bothered him. It truly upset him. It truly made him resent Carli. Thing was he didn't want to be that person but it was hard not to be when she didn't even so much care. That's kind of what it came down to. She didn't care and he had to accept that, but he still wanted to know deep down what her issue was.
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “You're the one with the problem. You're the one that seemingly hates me with a passion. So please Carli. Inform me of what I did so wrong. So I can apologize. Because I'm trying to do the right thing in life. I am trying to make peace with a lot of things and a lot of people... So tell me what did I do. I'll apologize and then you never have to see me again.”
t h e p r i d e o f j e r z C A R L I ★彡 D A V I S “I apologize that Sabrina can't keep her trap shut, but what am I suppose to do? Smack her on the back of the hand and say that's not nice? I told her after it went down that it was uncalled for. I called her right after and said that maybe she crossed the line, but I can't help she has no filter.”
She kept her arms crossed against her chest, her brow arched as she listened to Calvin explain how he felt. Maybe he had a few points, but he was making her out to be a bad guy, and she wasn't. Pulling her hair to the side, she sighed.
t h e p r i d e o f j e r z C A R L I ★彡 D A V I S “For the record, since you're probably thinking it, I don't hate you. I've never hated you. I'm annoyed and I made my statement on Twitter. Right, I know....I should of brought it in person. The only issue I have with you personally, is talking to that trash ex of yours. You hate Sabrina, well I hate the people in your past. Exes can't be friends, sorry Calvin.”
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “Trash ex of mine?”
He had asked. Only for it to be obvious a second later who he was referring to. He and Alessandra had a very fucked up relationship years ago. One that left him pretty jaded towards women for a long time. Carli had heard him vent about her in the past. Alessandra was well before he and Carli were ever a thing so that said how much she had impacted his life and made him feel. Calvin proceeded to look her in the eyes.
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “Maybe you're right Carli. Maybe you're right and exes can't be friends. At the same time though... How is that fair to me for you to be annoyed? How do you have that right at all?”
The attitude of his kind of just dropped. His hands were still in his pocket a little bit as he fiddled some.
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “Alessandra was the only one there for me when I got out of rehab. In a weird way she was the only one there for me when I was in rehab. She's kind of been the only support system I've had for the last few months. I couldn't face Chasity and tell her what I did... and with you. You claim to not hate me for everything that happened. Yet you weren't around. You didn't come around when I was there and you didn't come around after. That told me everything it needed to in the sense that you didn't care. So, can you blame me for having someone... just one person actually there for me and trying to help me get better?”
The last thing he was trying to do was make her feel bad. Carli obviously made the decision she made for a reason. And as he stood here now she hadn't bothered to explain why she just bailed. Nor was he going to push it at the same time though. He wanted her to understand that things were the way they were because he did need help from someone. He hated admitting that but it was the truth.
t h e p r i d e o f j e r z C A R L I ★彡 D A V I S “Whatever.”
She rolled her eyes, it was all she could currently even get out right now.
t h e p r i d e o f j e r z C A R L I ★彡 D A V I S “It takes two to communicate, Calvin. I thought about you everyday. I have my own life to worry about too, you know. I've been getting my ass kicked in training. Most days I can barely get out of bed. So save that she's the only one who supported me bull crap. If she's that important maybe it's her house you should be at, not mine.”
There was that attitude that he had expected all along. The moment he opened up and tried to fill her in. Carli kicked it into high gear. Sighing in frustration.
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “If that's how you feel then I'll be on my way.”
Taking his hands out of his pocket. Calvin ran his right hand through his dark colored hair and attempted to push on past her.
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “You're right Carli. You do have your own life to live. I never expected you to drop everything you wanted to do for me. That was never the case at all. I always pushed you to do your own thing and to succeed in life. So, I'm glad that you've got that much going for you.”
He had stopped to where he was side by side with her. Looking down at the much smaller woman. Actually making eye contact with her for the first time in what might have seemed like forever.
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “And you're right communication is a two way street. I guess I thought that maybe when things went truly sour for me. That you'd come running that one time. For I know had it been the other way around. I'd done it. But I am just as much as fault as you are... I'm sorry for everything. I truly am.”
That's all he could say at this point. All he could do was apologize for what he had done and for being at fault. Calvin shifted his eyes to the ground and walked right on past her. When he grabbed the handle of the door, he felt this emotion overcome him that this was truly the end. It was like the chapter involving them was officially over. He lingered there for a moment taking it in.
t h e p r i d e o f j e r z C A R L I ★彡 D A V I S “Calvin, wait.”
She sighed.
t h e p r i d e o f j e r z C A R L I ★彡 D A V I S “Are we really going to let things end this way? Look, we were both at fault and we only have each other to blame, as much as we do ourselves. I'm sorry for being an ignorant bitch. But honestly, this is not how I want you to go.”
Honestly he was a little surprised that she had said anything at all. Let alone prevented him from leaving her apart. Turning back around to look at her.
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “Is this how we're really going to let things end? I would have liked to think we were better adults than that. Though we have both kind of proven otherwise. At least we're both able to see what we made some kind of fault in the matter at hand.”
He let go of the door handle and proceeded to make a couple of steps towards her. Again meeting her with his dark colored eyes.
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “How would you like me to leave?”
t h e p r i d e o f j e r z C A R L I ★彡 D A V I S “How much time do you have?”
She looked back up at him, shrugging.
t h e p r i d e o f j e r z C A R L I ★彡 D A V I S “You know, to talk and stuff.”
For a brief moment he looked at her. He had picked up from the look in her eyes that she seemed pretty serious about what she was saying. Calvin nodded his head a little bit.
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “I got some time. It’d be nice to talk and clear the air between us.”
The first time in a really long time he saw Carli’s smile cross her lips. That was enough to bring warmth to his heart. Before the two of them started to make their way into her apartment a little more. To him it meant a lot for them to mend their bridge. This was something from his past that just had to be fixed and something that had to be made right.
“THE BIGGEST MISTAKE YOU EVER MADE” Backstage - Camera OFF scene two -- flashback
Tonight was meant to be the night that Calvin Harris had became the EHWF World Champion. Seven months of hard work. Seven months of being undefeated. Seven months of revolutionizing the Showtime and Tag Division. Seven months of being the best thing on the EHWF roster. Then in a matter of one move it was all over. It was clear that he had been screwed over tonight by the shady hand of Michael Rissi. The owner of EHWF and the prick that just thought he was the end all be all to professional wrestling. At that moment Calvin was already on the way to his rental car for the night.
He had spoken to Eli about what had happened and in that conversation is when he decided that he was done with the joke of the company that was Extreme Hardcore Wrestling Federation. Calvin didn’t feel like he had to inform anyone of his decision. Not after what had happened out in the ring. Calvin reached the rental car and grabbed a hold of the door handle. He popped the door open but as soon as it had been opened. The door was pushed shut. Nearly catching Calvin’s thumb in the door. Calvin’s head snapped around to see who was preventing him from getting in the car. Sure enough standing there was Michael Rissi.
t h e w o r t h l e s s f u c k M I C H A E L ★彡 R I S S I “We need to talk.”
Just seeing Rissi standing in front of him after everything that had gone down tonight. Calvin couldn’t even believe he had the balls and at that moment it was taking him everything not knock him out. Glaring intensely.
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “There’s nothing to say.”
t h e w o r t h l e s s f u c k M I C H A E L ★彡 R I S S I “That’s where you are wrong. There is plenty to be said!”
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “Nah there really isn’t and it’s in your best interest to get out of my face.”
t h e w o r t h l e s s f u c k M I C H A E L ★彡 R I S S I “Excuse me? My best interest? Do you even know who the hell you’re talking to right now?!”
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “Pretty sure I do know who I’m talking to... I’m talking to a little bitch!”
Calvin’s eyes narrowed even more with that glare of his. Rissi looked like he was able to have a brain aneurysm over how he had been talked to. All of the sudden that Rissi found himself stepping up and poking Calvin in the chest.
t h e w o r t h l e s s f u c k M I C H A E L ★彡 R I S S I “Listen here motherfucker. You should worship the goddamn ground I walk on do you understand me?! I am a God to this business! There is a reason that EWHF is one of the most respected companies. It’s the same reason that EHWF is one of the top companies that exist!”
That finger of his poked with authority. Calvin just glaring at him the entire time which was going unnoticed by the ranting owner.
t h e w o r t h l e s s f u c k M I C H A E L ★彡 R I S S I “I gave you a chance when I shouldn’t have. You were a nobody in this business and when I gave you a chance. I gave you the platform to become a somebody. With my help and my help alone you achieved that. If it wasn’t for me. You wouldn’t have went seven months undefeated. If it wasn’t for me, you wouldn’t hold the Showtime Championship or the Tag Team Championship. If it wasn’t for me you wouldn’t have been in the main events or on the pay per view covers. If it wasn’t for me you wouldn’t have ever competed in tonight’s main event for the EHWF World Championship!”
Each poke to Calvin’s chest got harder and harder. The man stood there gritting his teeth together as hard as he possibly could without breaking or chipping one. He was clear he was trying to do the right thing.
t h e w o r t h l e s s f u c k M I C H A E L ★彡 R I S S I “In the same light you proved that even with me behind you. Even with my help. Even with me making you a mega star that my efforts went completely to waste when you dropped the ball out there. All that talk. All those promises. All those remarks about how you were going to make it to the top and be the man around here?! Then when you got the chance to do so you fall flat on your face!”
He continued to get right up in the face of Calvin. To the point Calvin could honestly feel and smell the man’s disgusting breath.
t h e w o r t h l e s s f u c k M I C H A E L ★彡 R I S S I “You don’t have the talent and you don’t have the ability. That is the reason you weren’t anything in that shit-hole you came from. That is why you are never going to be the EHWF World Champion. That is why that even if you have the balls to leave this company that no matter where you go. You’ll never succeed. You are a --”
That’s when Calvin had finally had enough. Before Rissi could finish his statement or let alone register what was about to happen. Calvin took his right hand and punched square in the mouth. Rissi’s eyes rolled into the back of his head. He got that baby neck as it caused his head to flop around before he violently smacked against the concrete ground there in the parking lot. Calvin was breathing heavily clearly annoyed with the situation at hand. As he glared down at Rissi barely even conscious.
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “I am sure that’s going to hurt real-real bad when you finally wake your bitch ass up.”
Rissi was all stiff armed and barely had his eyes open. Calvin shaking his hand about.
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “But all you need to remember are two things. First and foremost, I QUIT your worthless fucking company.”
Those words rang out through the entire parking lot. Granted Rissi was barely conscious and didn’t even know what the hell was going on. Yet when he did come to. He was bound to remember at least getting punched in the face. That was a message in of itself. If one of your talent punches you out. They don’t have any intentions of working there anymore. Bending down a little closer now into the kneeling position glared at Rissi who was shaking his head and holding his face. Seemingly starting to come to.

Though it’s all good. Lesson learned. But at the same time you made the biggest mistake you could ever made by screwing me over tonight. Now wherever I end up. Whatever I end up doing. It’ll be bigger than this entire company’s existence. Hope you enjoy the black eye and losing out on the best talent you ever had!”
That glare remained on his face. The painful groans of Rissi starting to come out of his mouth as his hands removed from his face and he just laid there on the concrete floor. Calvin found himself standing back up a vertical base.
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “I can’t wait till the day you die so I can piss on your grave!”
If that hadn’t been mad enough Calvin finished off his statement by spitting down on the body of Michael Rissi. Making sure it coated him right in the face before he hopped himself in the rental car. In a matter of seconds Calvin pealed out of the parking lot and was on his way of getting out of dodge. He didn’t want things to come to that. He just wanted to leave and let that be how things were but no Rissi had to push him. He crossed a line. He had tried to ruin Calvin’s career. That was something that the Martyr had taken personally and therefore it was something that he was never going to forget or forgive.
The one thing at this point was that Calvin didn’t know where his career was going to. He didn’t know where his life was going to go. He had all kinds of issues going on from a personal standpoint and now the issues were piling on from a professional standpoint. It was becoming too much for him. Something had to give. Somehow someway things had to be turned around. Somehow someway he was going to have to make Michael Rissi not only eat his words but regret everything he had done. Knowing who Calvin was. That was bound to happen sooner rather than later.
“THE MARTYR RISES” County Colosseum - Camera ON scene three
A few hours from Wicked #9 that was coming to people live from El Paso, Texas. It was crazy that the next “Super Show” for Pure Amusement Wrestling was still little over a month away. Yet tonight for some reason felt like it was a Super Show in it’s own right. It had that feel really with Semi-Main Event of the night. Once again the world would see Press and Stevie Harris go at each other's throats. Only difference was it would be in a tag contest. Stevie with his mindless little whore and Press with the equally as useless Youth in his. Yet people were sold on that match. For some odd reason people were okay with seeing the same old shit out of both of them.
Though they were also sold on the main event as well. For the main event was going to see the Titans of the Midway Championship being defended in a Ladder Match. It was going to be Raike’s first ever title defense and there was a good chance it would end up being his own title defense. About that time the cameras found themselves rolling in. It didn’t take long at all to establish that the cameras were indeed in the backstage area. Lots of various objects and such were shown. From tables, to equipment creates, and so forth. All of the sudden though the cameras found themselves focusing on the shoes of someone. Slowly starting to move in an upward direction.
That’s when the cameras revealed Calvin Harris sitting right there on one of the equipment crates. He happened to have one of his hands resting on a ladder and his eyes directly on the cameras. In that very same breath Calvin began to speak and address the viewers. Almost like he had been waiting for them all this time.
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “You see this Ladder?”
He made sure to draw attention to the ladder giving it a little tug.
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “Right now you might not get the importance of it but that’s what storytime is for. You see well before I came to Pure Amusement Wrestling. Well before I competed across the ocean. Well before I waste my time in a company that doesn’t need to be named. I worked for a place called World Elite Wrestling. In fact I am sure that I’ve mentioned this before but nevertheless I signed my name to a contract with WEW in July of 2012. The first legit four years in the business could either be considered the best years of my career or the worst years of my career. That depends on who you ask.”
The expression on his face was the same emotion that a lot people got out of him. It was this stone cold like nature. One that didn’t give off too much emotion.
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “In the four years that I was with the company not once did I have a championship to my name. That’s not to say that I didn’t ever get a title shot. Because I did. I got plenty of them. In fact in the four years I was there I had gotten a shot at the WEW World Championship. Not once, not twice, but three different times. All three of those times as good as I was. As close as I got. As much as I laid it all on the line. Ultimately it came down to I wasn’t good enough. It came down that in the end that I couldn’t get the job done. And in the same light I was proving people right about me.”
He shook his head from side to side. That seemed to be something that got under his skin. Something that seemed to have annoyed him just a tad bit.
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “There were a lot of people that simply didn’t like me in WEW. There were people that shit on me at every corner. Took every cheap jab in the book they could at me. They were always chatting away about how I would never be World Champion. How I would never be this or how I’d never be that. This came from my so called peers, but it was also coming from those that ran the company. I can’t tell you how many times that in the four years I was there. I was told that I just didn’t have that ability. I was good, but just not good enough to hold that championship. To them I just didn’t have that “IT” factor as the likes of Chance Rugani, Shady Layne, Chris McKenzie, Vantage, and so on just to name a few. Yet as many times as I was told that I refused to believe it and because I refused to believe it. That just made people angrier and angrier with me.
I got those three championship shots and lost each time. I found myself being involved in the King of the Ring tournament. Where the winner would be getting a shot at the WEW or WEW World Championship. I made it all the way through that tournament. I made it all the way to the finals and then I lost. I found myself in the course of four years being there. Being part of two of the “Retribution Rumble” events. I always did well. I always managed to make it into the final four. Yet I never went the distance. Something that pleased them. Management loved when I fell on my face, but the one thing that seemed to grind their gears. More than just me refusing to accept what they were telling me. More than just me refusing to take their word for things. More than me just refusing to believe them when they say I didn’t have it. It really pissed them off when I refused to settle for second place.”
Finally, some expression was starting to be seen. Calvin was starting to smirk a bit. Almost like he got a thrill out of being able to piss off his former employer Seemed to be a rebel with a cause so to speak.
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “Every now and then they’d throw me a bone. They’d want me to keep in the Tag Division with my brother. Yet I had no desire to do so. I had no desire to be known as a tag team wrestler. I had no desire to compete for Tag Team Championships. And then they’d try to push me towards the Titan Championship or the Universal Championship. They’d claim I’d make a solid fit in the “mid-card” and could really “build myself up” from there. To which I wouldn’t go for it. I didn’t compete in a division with everyone else. I didn’t want to compete for championships that were considered “mid card” or in my eyes second place. No, I wanted to be competing against the creme of the top talent. I wanted to be in the ring with main eventers. I wanted to be World Champion and I’d stop at nothing to get it.”
Calvin’s statement was the same statement as every other wrestler that has ever existed. People that enter the business aim to be at the top of it. They aim to be the best. They aimed to hold the highest championship of merit. Problem was not even half of the people that entered this business were ever good enough to go that far. Calvin on the other hand was, he was just constantly held back from doing so.
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “Fast forward to four years later to September 20th of 2015. It was the final night in World Elite Wrestling. The company had decided to close up short. All that time I never brought home the World Championship. I never got a chance to prove the company and prove people within the company to be wrong about me. Yet I looked at that night as one last chance. I might not have been in the main event and I might not have been competing for the World Championship. I did however have the chance to prove people wrong in the Legacy Award Ladder Match and that’s where this ladder comes from.”
Patting the ladder briefly.
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “On the night that I had to compete against seven others. This was the very ladder that I climbed. Don’t get me wrong. That night didn’t go as smoothly as I would have liked. The person I loved and the person I trusted the most tried to screw me out of the match. They tried to cost me what I wanted. They tried to cost me what I needed. Not to mention I had everyone in the back and an entire sold out arena rooting against me. But as you could have guessed. Regardless of what happened, regardless of who was against me. Bleeding like a stuffed pig. I forced myself up this ladder. I reached up, I yanked down that Legacy Award, and I proved to every single person at that very given moment. They were wrong about me and that I had all the ability in the world to be everything that I said I could be.”
Looking at the ladder sitting off to the side of him. There was this memorized type of look that filled his irises. Many people would say that ladder and that ladder match saved Calvin’s career from being a complete as well as total bust in World Elite Wrestling. Though there were those that would have also said it meant nothing because it happened on the last night.
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “Now here I am nearly eight months removed from being part of that company and the same thing seems to be happening against. The machine here at PAW doesn’t think I have what it takes to be part of their little company. The machine here at PAW thinks that I’m someone that isn’t worthy of being in the main event. The machine here at PAW doesn’t think that I am PAW Championship material. All in all Lady Munin herself and all the little monkeys she has working for her have the mindset. They have the belief. They have this outlook that I am just a joke.”
Once again he started to shake his head from side to side. The fact that they viewed Calvin in the light that they did was the exact reason he had shown zero respect towards the company. It was the exact reason why he had been going off the way he had been. It was the exact reason he was bitter and jaded. Yet no one wanted to see it as such. Instead they wanted to put the blame just on him.
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “That much has been made clear when she decided to ignore me when I defeated her hand picked number one contender, CJ O’Donnell. It was made clear when she ignored when I made my claim as the rightful number one contender. It was made clear when she decided to not let me compete for that PAW Championship but instead put me in the main event this week for the Titans of the Midway Championship. Lady Munin has in her mind that I am only good enough to compete for second place. To which does nothing but piss me the hell off. I’m better than that. I am good enough to compete for first place. I am good enough to hold my own against your worthless PAW Champion. I am good enough to hold that PAW Championship. But if this is the game that you want to play Munin, then that’s the game we’re going to play. I don’t want second place. I’m better than second place, however at the same time I am perfectly okay with fighting Johnny Raike.”
There was that brief pause. Surely there were going to be a lot of people that would question just exactly why he was so eager to fight the man they called Johnny Raike. The one thing about Calvin having a “big mouth” like people claim was. When he had something to say he let it be said.
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “This shouldn’t come as a surprise to you Raike, but just in case it does. I don’t fucking like you and I’ve had a bone to pick with you ever since the last “Super Show” where we competed for the first ever Titans of the Midway Champion to even be crowned. Ever since that night when you walked away champion. There has been a burning hatred inside of me for you. See it isn’t that you walked away with a second place championship. It’s just a matter of you didn’t beat me fair and square. You were a man that was so bothered by me not claiming to know who you were. That just grinded your gears. You acted like it was a pet peeve of yours. You acted like it was the worst thing in the world and then claimed to make me regret my statement.
Yet when it came down to proving your worth. When it came down to you to give me a reason to know who you are and to remember you. When it came down to you making me regret my statement. That’s not what happened. Instead Raike, you took the coward’s way out. You conspired with the other little bitch in that of Alex Cross and the two of you decided at that point. You were going to jump me out. You were going to double team me. You were going to do everything that you possibly could to have the unfair advantage and to make sure that I didn’t leave with that championship. You can say it was to teach me a lesson, but I’m going to call it the way it is. Raike, you and Cross were nothing more than a couple of pussies!”
His remarks were a little rage filled. Those remarks were also sure to get under Cross and Raike’s skin. In fact it was something he was betting on.
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “And while I’m calling it the way I see it. The only reason you and Cross did that was because you were scared. You were afraid. You were truly worried about what I could do. Plus, of course having the backing of Munin. You couldn’t let her down. Neither could Cross. You couldn’t let her see you drop the ball and lose to the new guy. So you came up with the plan to screw me and it worked. Bravo to you. You screwed me out of second place. Something that you’re clearly content with being. You love that spot. You love being the runner up but never the actual winner. Where I on the other hand won’t accept any other spot.
I won’t accept second, third, or fourth place. I won’t accept being the being the runner up. I always want to be the winner and soon enough that’s going to be the case. Yet it’s going to start with you and you’re going to get the ass kicking you’ve been longing for. I am someone that can deep down a hold a grudge like no other. Ask the people that I couldn’t stand in WEW. Ask people like Broken Saint, Chris Dunn, Brooklyn Chandler, and Shannon Treamon what happened when I got in the ring with them when they knew I couldn’t stand them. Ask them because I bet they tell you the same thing. They tell you I aimed to hurt them.
The same thing I am aiming to do to you when we head out there tonight. I’m going to take this very ladder with me and I’m going out there with the intentions of giving you exactly what you deserve. It’s a given Raike. Your face is going to meet the face is going to meet this ladder on a couple of different occasions. There’s a good chance. A really good chance that this ladder is going to split that flesh on your face and it’s going to give you the ol’ crimson mask. Something you better pray doesn’t happen. Because if I see blood. I’m going to be just like a shark and I’m going to continue to attack until there’s nothing left of you.
You can guarantee that your spine is going to meet the steel of that ladder. You can bet that your knees and elbows are going to meet the steel. Matter of fact every limb that is in sight. I plan to attack viciously and if I can Raike. I won’t have any quarms about injuring to the point that you never wrestle again. Which is why when you’re climbing that ladder and when you think that you’ve got the match won. When you think you have it in the bag. When you think that you’re going to yank that title down and think you’re going to win. I’m going to be there to shove you off and just hope you break your neck when I do.”
Those intense eyes of Calvin had once again returned. It was one thing to be a professional wrestler and to do whatever you could to win. It was another thing to be a wrestler that thrived off hurting people. Yet in this situation Calvin’s words made him appear to be a complete and utter psychopath.
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “That being said Munin. I personally hope that you take a front row seat for this match. I want to see you at ringside that way I can see the look in your eyes when you see what I’m capable of doing to one of your favorites. I want to see that look in your eye when you see that when Raike is hung out to dry on his own that he’s going to fail you. I want to see the look in your eyes when you see firsthand what happens when someone choses to ignore me and refuse to acknowledge the talent that I have. You will see the end and the demise of one of your men. Do not let it go beyond this. That is your final warning!”
Calvin was clear with his message to the lady in charge. This wasn’t just about putting Raike on notice. This wasn’t about putting the company on notice. It was about putting Lady Munin on notice. With that intense look in his eyes still. He spoke up once again.
t h e m a r t y r o f w r e s t l i n g C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S “Tonight... The Martyr Rises!”
In those being his final words Calvin pushed himself up and then grabbed a hold of his ladder. Putting it over his shoulder as he began to walk away with nothing else left to be said on his end. Cameras focused on him moving away. Getting further and further out of view. People were left with one impression of Calvin. They had already decided that he was a prick. They had already decided that he was an asshole. They had already decided that he was sinister. Yet now more than ever he made it clear he was a prick, he was an asshole, and he was sinister but he was determined. Tonight failure would not be an option for him. Pure Amusement Wrestling will see the Martyr leave with the Titans of the Midway Championship!
