Dressed in blue jeans, a gray PAW promotional shirt, a backwards gray baseball cap and white sneakers is Alex Cross. He stepped into the quaint restaurant just on the outskirts of Purity and scanned the room obviously looking for something or someone. A smile came across his face as he laid eyes on his friend Alexandra Kelly in the corner. He waved at her before making his way over to her table and giving her a hug.
Alex: “How was your trip?”
He slid into the booth opposite of hers and grabbed a menu. She had been doing the same for the last couple of minutes. It was their place so to say. Whenever going out for lunch they would meet here. No fans. No reporters. Just two friends spending time.
Alexandra: “I love seeing my brother… just wish he would leave Canada. But I guess that is not going to happen. But what did I miss?”
Alex: “Honestly not a whole lot. Things have been pretty quiet around here lately. Kind of boring if you ask me.”
They had been here so much they didn't even have to order as drinks were brought to the table. She looked at him with her typical Pixie smirk, sipping from the tea.
Alexandra: “Too quiet without me? Huh?”
Alex: “Almost like a ghost town. I like a little excitement.”
He laughed as he took a drink of his water. She kept playing with her tea while looking back at him.
Alexandra: “Well, I am back. So things with your lady going smooth I assume?”
Alex: “Yeah things are good. How about you and Jack? Enjoying the new house?”
He took another sip of his water.
Alex: “The apartment complex lost a bit of its entertainment since you left.”
She gave him a serious look. When ready to open her mouth, the food arrived. They didn't even have to order, after being regular customers.
Alexandra: “Yeah we are good. The house is almost finished, just a little touch here and there. Maybe you wanna come over soon?”
Alex: “Would love to see the new place. I'm sure it's nice.”
She nodded her head, looking down on the plate.
Alexandra: “I owe you an ass kicking on the wii anyhow.”
Alex: “You don't want none of this Pixie. You ain't got shit on me when it comes to Wii bowling.”
Alex stood up and made the bowling motion ending with a middle finger and a laugh. He slid back into the booth and grabbed a fry.
Alex: “But you're welcome to try anytime.”
She laughed very hard, stealing a fry from his plate.
Alexandra: “Oh come on, who you trying to kid? You ain't got shit on me boy.”
She taunted him in a playful manner.
Alex: “And yet I'm undefeated.”
He threw the fry into his mouth and winked at his friend.
Alex: “Don't worry Pixie. One day maybe you'll beat the great Alexander Cross. Though I won't hold my breath.”
Alexandra: “Maybe you need a lesson at paintball then again? You seem too relaxed.”
Alex: “I'll tear that ass up don't even play. I was drunk as hell last time we went. Sober Alex is untouchable.”
He flexed and puffed out his chest.
Alex: “You can't handle this my dear.”
He laughed as he grabbed a fry and threw it at Pixie. She growled at him, almost jumping over the table.
Alexandra: “Really? You wanna blame it on being drunk? That's just bull Alex. I am just better than you. Old man.”
Alex: “Old man? Aren't you older than me Pixie?”
She would think for a moment, then threatened to splash her tea in his face.
Alexandra: “How dare you remind me? But seriously, I miss you.”
His smile was very genuine as he grabbed at his hamburger and held it for a moment.
Alex: “I miss you as well Pixie. We need to hang out more. But I understand what you're doing. You've got a lot on your hands with getting the house together and with Jack as well. Trust me, I get it.”
He took a bite of his burger as he looked at Pixie. She would not comment straight away, focusing on her food.
Alexandra: “Well we both kinda got busy. But we need to work on that. I need my friend.”
Alex: “I agree. Its been too long. We need to work on that. Hell you're part of the reason I'm even sitting here. Were it not for you and Munin I might be dead right now. I owe it all to both of you. I don't wanna lose that.”
Alexandra: “Then we gotta make it a deal. At least once a week darling.”
She gave him an honest smile, before taking a bite of her burger.
Alex: “I can work with that.”
He set his burger down and grabbed a stray fry off his plate.
Alexandra: “How much longer you gonna be suspended?”
Alex: “Not sure. I burned a lot of bridges coming to the ring drunk. I've got to mend some fences and prove myself again. Hopefully sooner rather than later.”
He looked at the fry in his hand.
Alex: “I miss it though. I really do.”
He shook his head before popping the fry in his mouth.
Alexandra: “I bet you do. I got my hands quite full. And sometimes it feels a little too much. With the scum crawling through the doors of PAW.”
Alex: “I assume you mean GZW?”
She would sigh a little. Running her petite hand through her long, dark hair.
Alexandra: “Yeah. And honestly I did not feel like management made much effort. But it's okay. I will handle my own business. If they like it or not.”
Alex: “I have to think management knows what they're doing with GZW. As far as your business goes I've been doing my best to keep up but what am I missing?”
Alexandra: “They might know, but they don't take good care of their talent. Well, last week I became the bad one for doing my job.”
Alex: “What happened?”
Alexandra: “People started to boo me because I finished Tapioca Joe.”
Alex: “People are fickle. They booed me for doing my job and I finally got tired of it. The thing is it made me do things I regret now. Don't go down that path if you can avoid it.”
Alexandra: “Well I am done with being a doormat though. I don't feel supported at my journey. So sorry Alex, but I will do me now.”
Alex: “Just don't kill anyone.”
He had to laugh as he ate another bite of his burger.
Alex: “But trust me, I know where you're coming from. Been there, done that.”
She knew he wasn't joking. Nonetheless she had to smile. Killer Pixie.
Alexandra: “Don't get me wrong love, I am not that fired up. But I won't play to their tune anymore..”
Alex: “Why does the sound of a killer pixie catch my attention? Sounds like an awesome horror movie. Hell I'd watch it.”
He always knew how to make her laugh. She would finish her burger, still eating off his plate.
Alexandra: “Just be sure to not get in line love. I don't wanna hurt you ever.”
Alex: “My path is the PAW Championship so eventually we'll be across from one another. Just don't pull any punches because I sure won't.”
He swatted at her hand as she stole another fry.
Alex: “Hey those are mine. You wanted more fries you should have ordered them.”
He laughed as he grabbed another stray fry and tossed it at her. She growled one more, time getting over the table. She kneeled next to him.
Alexandra: “Do you really think I would go easy on you?”
Alex: “Nope but I just thought I'd get that out their.”
Alexandra: “The more I like someone, the harder I will go at them. Why? Because I expect them to survive.”
Alex: “That's one thing you never have to worry about. I always give my best because I want the best.”
She smiled at him, remaining next to her friend on the bench.
Alexandra: “Now you made me itchy. I feel like getting to the gym.”
Alex: “Well you ate half my fries so.”
He finished off the last of his fries and pushed it away from himself.
Alex: “You ready to go?”
Alexandra looked a little guilty, but a smile came over her. She put some money on the table, grabbing her back.
Alexandra: “Always ready dear.”
Alex grabbed her money and slid it back her way.
Alex: “No worries I got this.”
He slipped some money under a plate before sliding out of the booth.
Alex: “My gym bags in the car. You ready?”
Alexandra: “You always pay for my food.”
She laughed a little but didn't protest. Instead she half hugged him.
Alex: “You put up with my antics and listen to my bitching so it's the least I can do.”
He laughed as he headed towards the parking lot.
Alex: “Besides it's the gentlemanly thing to do.”
Alexandra: “I got my stuff packed, so we good to go.”
She followed him to the parking lot, heading towards her car. Looking back over her shoulder another time.
Alexandra: “Meet you there? Or you wanna ride together?”
Alex: “Doesn't matter to me.”
Alexandra: “Aren't you helpful. Well, I see you there.”
She got in her car starting the engine.
Alex: “I try. Race you there?”
He slipped into the driver seat and fired up the muscle car with a roar. She didn't even try to race him, knowing he had a faster car. Alexandra would just go her normal pace.
Alex: “How was your trip?”
He slid into the booth opposite of hers and grabbed a menu. She had been doing the same for the last couple of minutes. It was their place so to say. Whenever going out for lunch they would meet here. No fans. No reporters. Just two friends spending time.
