Sometimes things come together quickly. Earlier last week Jack Swanson was back to his old ways preparing for another eating competition while at the same time trying to spend some time in the gym. He was unsure if his wrestling career would continue after the abrupt close of EPIC but he held out hope. His close friend turned agent was doing all he could to keep Jack's dream a reality calling up every regional promotion and upstart company out there. The out of the blue a call came in from the top company in the world and the rest I guess you can say is history. “Hungry” Jack Swanson was now a member of the PWA roster, for better or worse.

[Jack and Teddy are back at their condo in Vegas after a whirlwind of a week. The debut with PWA went well but now they need to focus on some real competition. An impact has been made but now Jack must keep up the momentum. He is sitting in the living room doing something he has never done before, watching tape on his next opponent. This isn't the only thing on his mind as he is also feeling a bit overwhelmed. Teddy walks in feeling chipper with a smile on his face.]
Teddy: You were great this week Jack, nice mix or comedy and power! There is already some early buzz on you. I've been reading the internet all week.
[He looks over at the TV and sees what Jack is watching.]
Teddy: So this your opponent this week? I'm glad you are watching the DVD I was able to get my hands on.
Jack: Yeah...
[Teddy knows his friend well and can sense something isn't right.]
Teddy: You alright man? You are living your dream, cheer up a little! Not impressed with PWA so far?
Jack: It's great and all Teddy but I have to admit that I'm a bit disappointed. I figured it would have been harder. There are guys who have put years and years into the wrestling business and never make it as far as I have. Guess I didn't realize my size would give me this much of an advantage.
Teddy: You're a big guy Jack and that doesn't hurt you but I think you're selling yourself short. You might have only had a handful of matches but along with a couple of squashes you've also had some hard fought battles. I don't want you to think you are here on size alone. When I talked to companies about you it might have been a selling point but it was one of many. People were impressed with your talent so far and the potential you have. There is more to you than just fat.
Jack: I know that Teddy. I guess I just wish I could have had the experiences other have had. It wouldn't be bad for me to know the hardships and just how tough the road is. The thing I am most concerned with is how are some of the other guys going to take it? I've never even been in a real wrestling school or had formal training and I will be sharing their ring. Not sure having this target on my back is something I'm going to like.
Teddy: That's the best part Jack. You are still going to be tested but at the highest level. Those guys are going to come to the ring ready to prove you don't belong and when you beat them, you will show that you deserve it. You will earn their respect.
Jack: That is something I didn't even think of. I'm going to have to prove myself against elite competition and when I am successful it will mean that much more. I was pretty damn unstoppable in EPIC and now it's time to see if I can transfer that to the big time.
Teddy: That's the spirit! When you first decided to do this I admit I had my doubts but you made a believer out of me. You will make a believer out of everyone else as well.
Jack: So care to watch this with me? I mean it isn't only going to be me out there. I'm relying on you to have my back. That's what a manager does.
Teddy: Don't worry I know my job. Just not sure why you wanted me out there. I thought for sure with this jump you would have wanted her. You've pushed it hard since you've met her.
Jack: I know, and I still do. The thing is I think this is what's best for the both of us. Like you've said people are going to take notice and I would rather it be for what I can do in the ring and not for the beautiful woman I have standing outside of it.
Teddy: In time they will take notice. It starts this week by beating El Fantastico.
Jack: That's the plan. Seems he has issues with Zex so who knows if the match will be a level playing field. You might have to stop him if he tries to interfere.
Teddy: Wait...What...
Jack: Don't worry Teddy I have faith in you!
[Jack picks up the remote and restarts the DVD. He can't wait until Violation 119.]
El Fantastico it looks like you've drawn the short straw and are the first person to be officially booked against me. Now I'm not sure if you were watching last week when Jose Jose thought he would challenge me just because I like to eat. I offered him what was left but it wasn't good enough. It isn't my fault he didn't arrive in time to partake of the delicious spread. The point is that he pissed me off when he called me out and I disposed of him without breaking a sweat. All the years of experience couldn't save him from defeat so what makes you so different? I'm been watching up on you and I have to say you're pretty impressive. Some of the things you are able to do I could only dream of. Obviously you are going to have the speed advantage but I have the power. You can fly around the ring all you want like a burnt Mexican jumping bean all you want but all it takes is one strike to have you grounded for good. I might be the greenest wrestlers to ever step foot in a PWA ring but no one compares to what I bring to the table. I am a top notch competitor in everything I do and have the trophies to prove it. When I set my mind to something I succeed. How else do you explain my arrival in the PWA? People are going to be lining up to hitch their wagon to me and that's fine because I will only improve. How scary will I be once I learn to wrestle? Think about that Fantastico.
Your mind in a little preoccupied though isn't it. That bastard Zex has gotten under your mask and it seems like he in a step ahead of you at all times. I don't condone what he did to that kid but that's the type of people that you have in wrestling, guys willing to do whatever it takes to get a leg up. He has you right where he wants you and that's a shame. Your whole focus should be on me because I am unlike anything you've ever been up against. You can't game plan for me (not sure you even would) because I am unpredictable. There aren't enough matches under my extended belt to get a bead on what I'm going to do because even I don't know. When I hit the ring I only know I want to win and outside of breaking the rules I will do whatever I can. Usually that just consist of hitting you a lot and throwing you around until you can no longer move. That is the key to beating anyone especially you. I do worry about one thing though and that's my endurance. I won't lie I'm not in the greatest shape and if this match drags on I will be in bad shape. That is why I am going to try and end it early. Like I said I will do whatever it takes within the rules and if you get hurt in the process it isn't my fault. Fantastico I do make you this promise, if you aren't able to compete after our match I will face Zex for you so you can have some sort of closure. That's just the kind of guy I am.

[Teddy pulls up to the local gym where Jack trains and hops from his car. It is early in the morning, really early and Teddy is hoping to find Jack here after he wasn't at home. Entering the gym he sees Jack sitting on a bench and showing no sign of fatigue or that he even broke a sweat. This causes Teddy some concern.]
Teddy: Jack, why are you just sitting around? I thought for sure you would be here training hard and working on some new moves.
Jack: That's what I came here to do. Been here for about an hour and well there is no one here to get in the ring with me.
Teddy: Are you kidding me? I had a group of about six college wrestlers who agreed to meet you here and try to teach you the basics of mat wrestling. I can't believe they didn't show!
Jack: Oh they showed up.
[Jack points over to the ring where six men are icing themselves down and appear to be in quite a bit of pain.]
Teddy: Damn Jack, you did that to them?
Jack: What can I say Teddy, I only know one speed. It wasn't like I did it on purpose. These guys just aren't cut out to train me for the professional ring. I just hope I didn't do any permanent damage to them. They seemed like nice enough guys.
Teddy: We are going to have to find you a real wrestling school that can handle training you. It shouldn't be too hard. You are already on national television I am sure they would love to get the exposure by having you associated with them.
Jack: I don't know Teddy. Things seem to be going pretty well the way they are. Why should someone else benefit from what I can do?
Teddy: It would be a mutual thing. They teach you and in return your success validates their school. There is nothing wrong with that. Remember everyone on the PWA roster is going to be gunning for you, to show that the bigger they are the harder they fall.
Jack: If you think it's for the best I will give it a try. I'm going to leave it up to you to figure that all out though. I have to concentrate on this week and this week alone.
Teddy: Sounds good so you are going to get some work in?
Jack: You could say that...
Teddy: What do you mean by that?
Jack: Those poor guys aren't going to be up for a round two so I figure as far as the gym goes I am done for the day. It's still early enough for me to catch the breakfast buffet up the street.
Teddy: I thought you were giving up competitive eating when you started wrestling?
Jack: T his has nothing to do with that. I just happen to have a large appetite and places like that are the only ones that can satisfy me. They don't call me “Hungry” Jack for nothing.
Teddy: Alright well I could use a bite as well.
Jack: Then come along.
[As the two men are making their exit Teddy comes to a stop.]
Jack: C'mon I don't need you slowing me down!
Teddy: Hang on, I just remembered why I rushed down here in the first place. She is coming to Mexico to see you wrestle.
Jack: Teddy...
Teddy: It was her idea. She wants to see you, I think she misses you.
Jack: We talk all the time...she didn't tell me.
Teddy: She didn't want you to say no. She thinks you are avoiding seeing her.
Jack: I am...
Teddy: Well get over it! She will be here and you two can talk in person and get past that whole situation.
Jack: Guess I don't have much of a choice.
Damn it Teddy! As much of a help as you are sometimes I would prefer you didn't get involved in the personal aspects of my life. He knows I like this girl and he is only trying to help but I feel like he is forcing the issue. Who cares if I blew her off when she invited me up for a drink, we've talked about it. I'm just not ready to put myself in the situation again. All this is doing is adding pressure I don't need right now. I still want her to be into me and that makes beating El Fantastico that much more important. Looks like he is going to be getting an even more aggressive Jack Swanson. I guess we both both got a bit of unwelcome news.
