First and foremost I'd like to thank everyone for their participation over the past few months. Our older characters have intermingled with the new additions, and things are moving forward nicely. From the outset of Nicole (Munin) and I working together on the fed, our goal was to make this a place for writers of all different styles and backgrounds, and that has really become evident as the place continues to grow.
That being said, with growth comes change, and there are some big ones on the horizon.
1) The number of characters/handlers have exploded since before Heat Stroke, and we have so many faces running around the place that we no longer believe that one show is going to contain it all. We plan an running this as a story line on card, but I wanted to make sure that you all knew about it ahead of time so that it may answer some questions. There is going to be a second show. It will begin after the Super Show, Bad Moon Rising, in August, and will be run primarily by Nate. He is going to take over the main production (matches, card lay out, and stuff like that). I will help where I can, but my main focus will continue to be WICKED, so he's going to need the occasional match writer or two, so if you do have some free time and would like to try your hand at it, then by all means start now by going to the production script and signing up for one.
2) In the meantime, til we can get the second show squared away, we are going to be having some DVD Special Feature Matches a.k.a. Dark Matches. I'm trying to center this around newer individuals entering the fed, and a change out with people who aren't involved in any major story lines on the shows at this time. It isn't a downgrade, or because we don't want you. All that we ask is everyone be patient, and the new Show will help to mitigate the increase in our numbers. There are even more people on the way, and others that are riding the fence with a maybe, so we're just trying to get through this til we can get that second show up and running. Special Feature Matches will be given a summary results, as I feel that anyone that RP's deserves some acknowledgment, and to help give them something to work off for future RP's.
3) There are going to be some role changes within the staff, and there are some spots open. Even if you have no desire to even try your hand at it, if you know someone, please direct them towards Nicole so she can talk with them, and sort them out. I just received a promotion at work, and this will cut into my fed time considerably. I'm not going to be able to keep doing site updates, card lay outs, matches, booking, and still play the game. I know some of you would probably see this as an easy answer, just cut The BombTrax from the card, and be full time staff, but I'm going to be 100% honest with you. I want to Roleplay. If I don't get to play the game against other people, then I'm not going to be happy, and I refuse to let a hobby (game) make me unhappy. My eventual goal with gaining match writers and such, is to take a step back from the duties that were thrust upon me back in March. I'll do booking, and do show lay outs, with the occasional match here and there, but I still want my time to play the game.
4) From now on, there is going to be a match deadline. It will be the same as the segment deadline. Basically the Tuesday before the show at midnight. This is the first show I've ever put out late, and the cause was not having the two matches that I was told were going to be sent in. So at the last minute, I'm scrambling to write those matches, just in order to at least post on the day of show, rather than the next day. In my opinion, late shows is where a fed starts to crumble. It's also one of the first things newcomers look at as well. This is not a trend I intend to follow. If you take a match, and then for some reason can't get to it, by all means, let us know as soon as possible so we can reassign or write it ourselves.
5) Hand in hand with the match deadline, is the need for match writers. I'm not asking you to take multiple matches. I don't expect every match to be of epic proportions. I think a lot of that should be dictated by how much heat's involved, and if there are special circumstances. I don't need you to add a finish. Just get me to a good stopping place where I can come in and add the finish once I receive the grades.
Side Notes: If you want RP feedback, you will need to get that from the judges, Nicole and V. If you end up coming to me, I'm going to give you feedback, but it isn't coming from any sort of rubric, and it's going to be just opinion based rather than critical thinking that goes into judging from those two. Just so there's a warning label attached to this, let me say that I am brutally honest, and pull no punches. Most of my focus centers around the writing, and the writer's awareness of the situation. If you are only interested in improving RP's to win matches, then I'm not the one to go to, as that's what the grading rubric helps determine. If you want to become a better writer all the way around, then feel free to give me a try.
On a personal note, my focus will always be on the shows i.e. you guys. I hate losing as much as the rest of you, but if it's a choice between making sure that the match I committed to writing or focusing on my RP, then I'm going to make sure I get the match done first. Make no mistake, the ONLY reason I've agreed to do what I've done so far is because of the fact that I really enjoy what we've created here in PAW. Otherwise, I probably would have never picked up the slack.
Nicole may have more to add to this thread.
Thanks,
Staff
