Character Biography:
John was born into a loving household, the youngest of four children and the only boy. His mother was a loan officer at the local bank and his father was involved in the city government. Being the youngest child and only boy, John was groomed to be an athlete. Basketball, Baseball, Wrestling and Football all came easily to him, but ultimately Football won his heart. Throughout his Junior High School experience, he played Cornerback. In Highschool, his leadership skills were put to work on the offensive side of the ball. He became the second string Quarterback and by his Sophomore year he had moved to starting Quarterback.
John's success in both academics and athletics earned him a scholarship to ESU in Pennsylvania (Fictional) where he excelled as a Student Athlete. There he met Dontevius Ellis who would become his favorite target. The two made an unlikely duo both on and off the field. Dontevius being much more outgoing than John. John learned from Dontevius and vice versa as the two became good friends.
Then the roof caved in. ESU’s football Program was shut down due to various massive NCAA violations. The majority of the team and the entire coaching staff was banned and three years worth of victories were forfeited. John and the other starting skill position players were targeted and while his grades were solid, his drug tests were negative, he was still held accountable for team actions. John was ultimately expelled from ESU as the football program was terminated.
In twenty fifteen, when the NFL was gearing up for the Draft, John Weyland returned home to Louisiana facing the tough reality of what had happened. As he drove into town, he was first faced with the billboard featuring his name defaced with the words “FRAUD.” When he returned home, he was accosted by an overbearing and disappointed father. His peers shunned him and frustrated townspeople vandalized his vehicle. Soon John was forced to leave.
Career History:
John received a call from Dontevius and connected with Benton Ryan (Dontevius’ manager) who worked out a deal to bring him to Pure Class Wrestling.
John entered PCW in the midst of a series of losses in both his personal and would-be professional careers. His hopes of playing professional football were dashed and his academic goals had been put on hold. He has turned his back on his former home town as well as his family and simply wanted to move on to something better. PCW was not that opportunity. He found himself frustrated and shortly after joining the outfit, he left due to personal reasons.
Dontevius is still active in Pure Class Wrestling.
This separation lead to months off. Then, after a short stint in some amateur fighting circles, he was discovered by Tony Chu who used this opportunity to once again gain a foothold in Pure Amusement Wrestling, having been fired by his former Client, Strick Plissken.
Gimmick: Johnny is stone cold until he gets into the ring. Once he’s over the “build up” to the fight, he wants to play in the ring. He’s a cocky little shit sometimes and likes to use theatrics. He’ll try to beat his opponent though fighting and being a jackass. He enjoys it. This of course, can get him into trouble.
Entrance Music: "If I had a Tail" by Queens of the Stone Age
Entrance Description:
The lights in the arena fade away and as "If I had a Tail" by Queens of the Stone Age hits, the lights come back up in crimson red. Josh Homme's voice calls out the lyrics as the anticipation grows in the crowd. "Gitchy gitchy, Oooh la la, Da doo run run, Ya won't get far."
John Weyland steps out from the entrance and stands on the stage as spotlights find him. He's wearing a hooded robe, hiding most of his face. He makes his way down the center of the entrance ramp towards the ring, when he gets to the bottom of the ramp, he pushes his hood back off of his head.
Josh Homme sings, "I'm machine, obsolete. The land of the free--Lobotomy."
Weyland climbs the ring steps and uses the top rope to sling himself up and over the rope and into the ring. He goes to the center of the ring where he takes off his robe as the lights return to normal.
Josh Homme sings, "If I had a tail, i'd own, the night."
Weyland goes to his corner as the music fades and warms up as he waits.
