Back when Caroline O'Hara Burchill garnered international recognition in 2014, everyone couldn't stop talking about her. From the condescending swagger that she exuded to her abrasive and controversial remarks she made in regards to her opponents, the young lady was constantly in the headlines for her unabashedly candid and confident demeanor. Everywhere she went, Ms. Burchill seemed to have a legion of loyal haters that constantly flocked around her, expressing their abhorrence for her. There were times where I thought for certain that the roof of the arena would fly off due to the immense amount of boos and jeers that she received whenever she walked out. It was truly something special to see as everyone would get up and say the most offensive and disparaging things that they could come up with to hurl at the young woman. However, Caroline never paid the fans any mind. In fact, she actually thrived off of the hatred that she received. The cocky smile that graced her face seemed to grow whenever she was confronted by a ruckus crowd. I have never seen someone that caused such a stir in the professional wrestling industry before. Everyone hated Caroline - and Caroline loved it. She shined in the spotlight, and to her credit she was an athletically gifted athlete that kept on performing at a high-level caliber. Even though complimenting Caroline on anything these days seem like a major sin for an individual to commit, she was one of the best wrestlers in the entire world at her prime. Her wit was resounding and her in-ring general presence was commanding. She was fast, agile and her technical skills were flawless - some of the best I've seen out of any wrestler. She was the total package. Everyone detested her, yet she never let the hate get to her. By the end of the year, she transformed into a competitor that was worthy of being in the main event. However, the young woman from Australia never reached her fullest potential and, in February of 2015, she disappeared from professional wrestling. She took a year off and now that she's back, the Caroline O'Hara Burchill of yesteryear seems to be gone completely.
Caroline O'Hara Burchill (born Caroline Valentina Zolnerowich) was someone to watch. She was someone that delivered on almost every word she made and she had everyone take note of her. However, the same Caroline that had the condescending attitude and a "I am better than you!" vibe is gone. We now have a shell of that woman, completely null and void of the fire that she once possessed. Her words no longer have the same vile and cocky tone that was once present. Her words have fallen flat and has no merit whatsoever. What was once a woman who had the world at the palm of her hand was now someone that was at the bottom of the ladder, never being able to climb up the ladder to regain her former glory. And as much as Ms. Burchill wouldn't want to admit it, she is no longer someone that is considered to be a serious athlete. The wrestling community has been disappointed with her since her signing with the rapidly growing Pure Amusement Wrestling. She lost in her debut match, came out empty handed in her recent match for the fed's Pay-Per-View "Bad Moon Rising", and the only win that she has to this date is with Anastasia Hayden in a tag team match. Currently, critics and fans are not impressed at all with Burchill's current resume.
"She [Caroline] f------ sucks!" One fan wrote on an article revealing the results for Bad Moon Rising. "She talks about being a Queen when the b---- hasn't even accomplished anything in her pathetic career. She should've retired and stick to modelling. No one cares about her."
Many people share that same harsh sentiment. It's just shocking to see how someone like Caroline has had a lackluster career since her return. When Caroline announced that she would be returning to the ring back in June, everyone was watching. Many people were waiting to see if Caroline had what it took to finally have a breakthrough and become a champion. However, many have been left disappointed as Burchill has yet to make a significant impact in PAW. Some people say that she's feeling the effects of ring rust whereas others are bluntly saying that Caroline probably can't handle the level of competition that is present within the fed.
"Pure Amusement Wrestling truly does have some of the best wrestlers in the world today." Fellow contributor Eric Anderson writes. "... It seems as though Caroline just can't keep up with the competition there... and when Caroline is given the chance to showcase what she is capable of, she seems to fail on epic proportions."
Despite the criticism and negativity surrounding the Aussie, Amy Scottsfiern - Caroline's agent and retired professional wrestler- has stood by her client's side as she defended Burchill during a live Skype interview on TMZ Live.
"Caroline has not gotten soft. Sure, her career has been slightly rocky in some parts, but that doesn't mean that she has lost herself. After all, people need to take into consideration that she hasn't been in a ring for a year before she came back. ... I can assure you with the utmost confidence that she [Caroline] has what it takes to be at the top of her game and be a world champion. She'll be rising to the top from now on."
Hopefully, Amy is right. With the way Caroline's PAW career has been going, she certainly is far from being considered a top star in the fed. She has everything to lose should she fail to emerge victorious in her upcoming match against Anastasia Hayden, and with the unimpressive showing that Burchill has been putting out, it's easy to see why the Queen and her kingdom are falling apart.
