“BACK IN BUSINESS.” CHAPTER 001
• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • The yellow school bus found itself on what appeared to be an uber long rural road. Some would call it a country road, but being up in the Chicago, Illinois area. There wasn’t anything really “country” about the city by any means. Instead this was just the outskirts of Chicago. Seemed like someone lived a little bit away from the city. Almost like someone enjoyed their privacy away from the craziness of what the city brought. That someone just happened to be a blue eyed redhead twelve year old. By no means was it her decision to live that far away from the city and more importantly that far away from her friends. Instead that was a decision made by the young girl’s parents. For two reasons. One in which it was a matter where they enjoyed their privacy. And the other reason? Well that was a reason that not too many people would understand unless they had a parent or parents that were famous. That or they were people that were famous themselves. All of the sudden the bus started to shake just a bit due to the driver pushing down on the brakes. Only seconds later did the bus come to a complete and utter stop just right outside a large house with a privacy gate.
The little girl who had been looking out the window picked up her book bag and quickly started to make her way to the front of the bus. For any kid it was always a weird feeling being the last one on the bus. There was just something about it that made it unsettling. Sure enough though she made her way to the front of the bus and stepped right out the doors with a brief wave to the driver. Nearly the second she stepped off the bus, the doors closed up and off the bus went down the street. The red headed child made her way forward towards the private gate to which had a keypad built right into the gate. Her tiny fingers reached out quickly punching in a couple numbers which ultimately lead to the gates opening up and allowing her in. With the gates parting she began to walk herself up the driveway. On her way up the driveway there was something that caught her eye. An all black limousine was in parked in the driveway and with the engine going. As she got closer to the large house her attention was pulled in the direction of a rather large physically fit man walking down the front steps with two suitcases in each hand. Confusion struck her as she called out.“Dad...” She stated in that confused state. At least when speaking up it caught the man’s attention just as he had approached the back door of the limousine. He waved in her direction before gripping the door handle then pulling up to open the back door. The twelve year old wasn’t happy with the response she got from her father which is why her silence was broken again.“Where are you going?”The man had swung his left leg in the car. In the midst of getting ready to settle himself in but when he had heard her speak out. He had stopped himself long enough to look back up at her and to offer a response. “I’ll be back in a few days. I’ve got to head to Louisiana.”Although it was likely not meant to be taken out of context. However it did sound like the man was very stern, very cold. That might have just been who he was. For it didn’t seem to bother the little girl like it would have most people. She took a couple of steps towards the limousine with this still very confused look on her expression.“I don’t understand. Why are you going to Louisiana of all places?”“I have business to handle sweetheart. That’s all. Not something you need to worry about. Like I said I’ll be back in a few days.”He had responded just as quickly as she had spoken up. Startling to settle himself down in the backseat of the limo. He gripped the door and he was just seconds away from shutting it until the twelve year old had managed to bring herself around the other side of the door and wedging herself between the door space preventing him from closing it for the time being.“Dad, you haven’t had anything business related in roughly a year now. Is everything alright? Are you and mom into it again? Are you leaving us for good? This type of stuff makes me worry.”There was a complete state of worry and panic over the young girl’s face. She wasn’t kidding when she said this made her worry. Her claims for worrying were legitimate for concern if those had known this family. That being said the father shook his head some and scooted forward some out of the limo. Taking a hold of her hands and looking right into her eyes.“I told you once it isn’t anything for you to worry about my child. I meant that. Just like when I tell you, I’ll be back. Then it’s a promise and I mean it.” His words remained stern. “But to ease your mind when I said I had business to attend. That’s exactly what it is. For the past year I have set down in that recliner in the house and watched the business that I help mold go down the drain because of the people that exist in it. I am watching the business go down the toilet because there isn’t a reason to live in fear. Well now they’re going to have a reason to live in fear. Not only will they have a reason to live in fear, but they will die by fear.”Any person that would have walked up on a conversation like this between father and daughter would have truly questioned this man’s ability as a father. What he was saying just didn’t seem like the type of thing that you would say to a child regardless of how old they might be. Before another word could escape his mouth. The little girl flashed this bright smile.“Who’s the first victim, dad?”“His name is Roscar. That’s all I know and that’s all I need to know.”“End him then.”There was something about the last sentence that came from that little girl. She sounded almost as cold as her father did. She leaned in at that point wrapping her arms around her father’s neck giving it a bit of a squeeze. Soon after the embrace broke as she looked at her father.“I’ll see you when you get back.”“Mhmmm. Behave for your mother while I’m gone.”“I only try to give her a heart attack once a day.”“Remember if it happens you have to split half the money with me when she dies.”“If I did all the work, I don’t think that’s fair.”“Life isn’t fair child.”With that being said he pulled the door shut to the limo. No sooner than the door had shut the driver had put the limo in drive and down the long driveway. The little girl stood back a little ways watching the limo slowly creepy out the private gate onto the road. In just a matter of seconds the limo had disappeared from the driveway leading to the little girl heading up the steps to head inside the house. In a few days her father would be back and when he did return. There was a very good chance he’d be coming home with blood on his hands and the scent of death in his clothes.• • • • • • • • • • • • • • •
“VIRAL INFECTION BEGINS.” CHAPTER 002
• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Cameras found themselves fading in and the one thing that seemed to be noticed right away was the blinding light. The light was so bright that it was reflecting off of the all white walls. With eyes finally settling to the blinding light and the reflection off the white walls. People could be seen walking back and forth down this hall. Some of them were in a rush. Some of them walked at a normal pace. Some of them were helping older people down the hall. Some were pushing people in wheel chairs down the hall. Some people were even pushing bodies in black bags down the hall on what appeared to be a stretcher.
The one thing that all of these people did have in common was the fact that they had on the same dark green outfit or scrubs. Not to mention the white masks that covered their noses and their faces also appeared to be a common theme. One of those people in particular walking down the hall seemed to be more of the focal point than the others. It almost seemed as if they were walking directly towards the camera. In seemingly approaching the cameras the person in scrubs and a mask appeared to have quite the build to them. Muscles nearly ripped the thin paper scrubs in half. Tattoos covered at least from their forearm down to their wrist.
By no means was it something that you would have seen on a normal nurse or doctor. In that very moment though those ice cold blue eyes directed themselves to the camera lens. Not just that but a very deep and very masculine voice could be heard. The type of voice that simply commanded that attention be given just from speaking.“Roscar...”As soon as the man had spoken up was as soon as he fell silent for the brief moment. No one behind him bothered to stop walking. No one even so much as turned their head in his direction when he name dropped this person named “Roscar” which made it clear at this point that whomever it was had to be someone this person was addressing on a more personal level.“Are you prepared to be infected with a Virus that has no cure? Are you prepared to be infected with a Virus that is slowly but surely going to cause your insides to rot? Are you prepared to be infected with a Virus that is going to feel internally and physically sick? Are you prepared to be infected with a Virus that is going to ultimately claim your existence?”Those words escaping his mask covered mouth were not very pleasant by any means. More so because this “virus” that the man mentioned was something that very well could be a real thing. All types of virus existed in the world. They all did different things. Everything he mentioned could very much be a real possibility. By no means was that something that anyone wanted to go through. Especially not if it was going to claim their life.“Better yet Roscar. I ask you are you prepared to become my first victim?”That continued to leave people in an unsettled state and confused by what he meant. In that being said though he reached up grabbing a hold of his mask and pulled it up over his face. This was done to reveal his identity. He was a man with very short hair, a dark beard to go with it, and his overall facial expressions matches his very cold and seemingly heartless eyes. Little did many people realize at this moment. They were feasting their eyes on a very dangerous man. He had been known all around the wrestling world as “The Virus” Chris McKenzie. Those cold and heartless eyes remained fixed where they were as he spoke again.“For the last several weeks I’ve informed Pure Amusement Wrestling that I was coming. Some people took it seriously as it should have been taken. Some people didn’t bat an eye over it. Others didn’t understand it. For some odd reason in my time that I have left the wrestling world. It seems that most people have forgotten about me. Not have they forgotten about me but they’ve forgotten about what I’m capable of. Forgotten about what I can do. Forgotten about how dangerous I am. To me that’s a problem. Seeing as my history is well-documented. I have ended careers within the blink of an eye. For no other reason than I could. Hurting people pleases me. Leaving people in a state in which they have broken bones and blood pouring out of them brings a smile to my face. Infecting people with my virus and leaving them helpless truly satisfies me. That is why I have decided to return to the wrestling world. To satisfy that hunger.”Staring into those cold heartless eyes was something that was sure to make many people uncomfortable. Something that was almost a given that he’d be looking forward to.“In my name being signed to a dotted line with Pure Amusement Wrestling. It wasn’t made to be a big deal. There was no hype for me. They didn’t roll out the red carpets. My career wasn’t highlighted, what I have done wasn’t put out in the open, and my name wasn’t even so much as mentioned when I signed it to a contract.”For a brief moment he shook his head.“Don’t get me wrong I am not one of those people that need those type of things to feel some type of self worth. However all that told me was that the company itself didn’t understand what they were getting themselves into. They didn’t seem to have an understanding of what I am capable of. Maybe more importantly the company itself didn’t seem to know who I was. Had they asked the now defunct World Elite Wrestling. They would have gotten quite the impressive resume about me. Had they asked World’s Greatest Entertainment Federation. They’d gotten an even more impressive resume on me. Had they simply googled my name before giving me a contract. They would have likely pulled back on their offer to me. Yet they didn't do any of that. They didn’t care enough to know who I was and again that’s a problem for me. A problem that I intend to fix very-very soon. As soon as September thirtieth when I find myself debuting on Wicked against the man I have claimed to be my first victim: Roscar.”The man’s cold stare remained the same. However there was some features that changed more specifically around the mouth area. His lips were curving into a sadistic smirk that hadn’t been seen before. A smirk that was enough to let it be known that he was truly evil all the way down to his core.“Putting Roscar in this match with me was a way for them to try and improve this young man’s career. He is going through what I call a phase. He’s had a string of some really bad luck. Or we could just call it like it is. He’s not very good in the ring. Don’t know how he even made it out of a wrestling school to be in the position that he’s in now. That’s neither here nor there as far as I am concerned. Point being is no matter what Roscar tries. He ends up lying flat on his back. He ends up with another loss. He ends up looking horrible in front of the couple hundred people that actually show up to Wicked events. Suddenly it’s all meant to turn around for him because he’s got someone apparently guiding him. Which was essentially the entire purpose of this match being booked. Because no one did the proper research. They simply thought they could just feed me to Roscar and it would go the way they planned. He’d get a win and his luck would change. Yet the cold hard reality is it isn’t going to go the way any of them have hoped. In fact putting Roscar against me is going to lead to much more than just a loss for him. All Pure Amusement Wrestling did is sacrifice this man’s career, his well being, and his flesh to be taken by the Virus.”McKenzie’s words remained very emotionless.“Right now I expect Roscar to ignore that. Right now I expect Pure Amusement Wrestling to ignore that. They’re going to be just like all the other companies I have worked for and all the other people I have ever been in the ring with. Everything I said is going to be taken as a joke or it’ll simply go in one ear and out the other. For these people are just going to think that I am some man that is talking out his ass or trying to come off as some hard ass. Then when it all goes down. They’re going to be left with their jaws nearly hitting the floor and then a state of panic is going to run through their veins. Yet at that point it’ll be entirely too late. There’s going to be nothing and no one that will be able to stop me. To be more precise there’s nothing and no one that is going to stop this virus. Once it has been leaked into the atmosphere. Once it has consumed it’s first victim. It’ll spread like a wild fire until there’s no living-breathing thing standing.”Again using words like that was enough to get a pretty negative response. People were going to start living in fear of what he was capable of doing. Even if most of them wouldn’t react to it. The moment all of it did become true. That’s when the overall panic would set in, but as he had said. That’s when it was going to be too late. Hell, as of this moment it already seemed to be too late.“No one is safe. It’ll start with Roscar and it’ll go from there. Before long you’ll see the Virus claiming the life of Johnny Raike. Not long after that it’ll take the life of Nova Wonder. Then a little later on it’ll take the life of Kelsey Spencer. And then it’ll be Calvin Harris, Deus, Caroline O’Hara Burchill, the Bombtrax, and even Lady Munin herself. On by one the Virus is going to pick through those that exist until there is no one left and then Pure Amusement Wrestling comes crumbling down into a heap of concrete, rubble, and dead bodies. At that point Purity, Louisiana is just going to be looked at as a deserted town in which will only be remembered for the Virus taking it down.”From the sounds of it McKenzie had it out for everyone on the roster. Wrestler and owner alike. There was sure to be someone that took high offense to what he said. Yet the question at hand would be is there anything they could do to stop him. About that time he spoke up again forcing the focus to be once again on him and only him.“It wasn’t my job to warn you. It wasn’t my duty to give you the heads up. It damn sure isn’t my right to protect any of you. On September Thirtieth the Viral Infection will begin. And once it does it won’t be long until your bodies are found in the local hospital morgue!”His cold eyes remained to be the focus of the cameras just for a couple of brief seconds. McKenzie then reached up pulling the medical mask back over his face before turning himself around. He started to walk down that all white hallway of the hospital until he had disappeared from the camera’s view. Like clockwork the cameras found themselves fading out with his disappearance. Going forward fans, wrestlers, and even management alike were going to be on edge a little bit. At least until September Thirtieth rolled around and they saw what he was capable of with his own eyes. That in itself was the scariest part. They could end up seeing their future all in one match.
