I know this may seem rather sudden, but it is something I have been considering for awhile now. I think that when we first started using this grade it was a good idea. It fit the group we had at the time nicely. But feds grow and change and I feel that the participation grade no longer meets the needs of our handlers. So going forward it will not be counted towards your final grade.
I will be happy to answer any questions, and hear your thoughts on this, so please feel free to contact me. Here or via DM/PM is fine.
Thank you for your time Munin

I'm kinda bummed to see it go, because I found it really fun. It drew me in because I hadn't seen a fed use a system like that in a very long time, and it was one of my fonder memories of the feds I was in from back in the day. One of a number of reasons that I decided to have my other character go inactive in the fed he was in, was so I could focus on Kelsey here with CDs, segments, etc.
But, even having said that, I can see why it's also a good idea to get rid of it. Last cycle, I was hesitant to send in my on-show segment because I thought that could be the only reason I'd be winning. I like the idea of being rewarded for extra work and stuff, but if I can't win with what I write in my RP, then I don't really want to win at all.
I'll still be posting CDs and news/rumours just about every cycle, because I like how it shapes Kelsey as a character. Plus, I love reading the CDs and news announcements other people post. It'd be a shame to see that stop with the disappearance of the participation grade... Maybe there could be some other incentive for participation that doesn't count towards winning a match? Something that would encourage people to keep posting these kinda things?

I'm not disappointed to see it go. At all.
Why?
Well, I love segs.
I've made use of the news board before. More than once.
I think doing things that boost your character like segs and news pieces and what have you should not be REQUIRED to win a match. They should be an integral part of where you get pushed and driving towards how you earn your place on the card but factoring in for a weekly match? NOPE.
I mean, up to this week I didn't really have a story and it's not really fair to think that someone who has a reason to do a segment on show because they're in an angle already could potentially beat me because of those extra points?
Very much not a level playing field.
I get the point of it initially. To drive activity. Make the place not a ghost town but it's not even close to that. So yeah. That's my two cents.

Contrary to Summer, I'm disheartened about the removal. You didn't need a story to go ahead and write a seg. Hell, I don't think I've really had a feud of sorts here and I manage.
If the decision has been made then there is little up for discussion, but segments don't need an external storyline to be created.

To me, the participation grade made it seem possible to beat quality with quantity. I feel like it had it's place but purely as a tie breaker. I don't think someone should win purely on the amount they can do when some people just don't have the time. Hopefully people aren't discouraged and stop writing segs and shtuff but I'm glad to see the grade gone.

I am so thrilled that this is being done away with...
Nothing against Nicole/Press, but I know for a fact that I was like one of if not the only one to speak out against the idea when I found out about it. I hated everything about it. I never felt like it was fair that people could win a match based on the fact they did "more" in the terms of a segment or a CD piece. Never ever felt like that should have been counted towards scores. I also felt like it shit on a lot of people. I know for a fact I have a lot going on. Press found this out last week. I literally don't have the time to roleplay but I make time because of the bi-weekly schedule. I put my all into my rps, I don't have the time to do a bunch of extra stuff on top of that. At times it felt like I had to in order to secure a victory, or that I had to be able to keep my spot. Doing CD pieces and segments felt more like a job than an actual perk to the game. So by no means am I glad to see this be going and I'm also glad to see that there are people now that share the same view as I do. You should win matches, based off your work and not anything extra. This is going to be great going forward. Nicole & I talked about it. She feels this way benefits the fed and I couldn't agree more.
